European Conference on Ethics and Integrity in Academia 2026, Batumi, 16 September 2026
On 16 September 2026 the project presented its work at the European Conference on Ethics and Integrity in Academia 2026 in Batumi, Georgia. The session, Ethics in Focus: Using Attentive Teaching to Surface Cross-Cultural Moral Perspectives, was led by Avi Kay of the Lev Academic Center and Yaron Schur of the Attentive Teaching Institute at the David Yellin Academic College.

A workshop, not only a talk
The session was run as a workshop built on Mediated Interaction. Participants were asked to present their point of view on Business Ethics, Corporate Social Responsibility or Sustainable Development through a visual representation, whether a drawing, an image found online or an image generated with AI, and then to explain it.
A group discussion followed, in which participants presented and explained their visual outputs. Fellow participants and the workshop leaders asked questions to clarify the attitudes and expectations of each participant, and to bring out what the group had in common and where it differed. Mediated Interaction is the way the project puts the Attentive Teaching method to work.

Attentive Teaching in the classroom
The presentation set out the principles behind the approach: the voice of each participant is important; visual representations are introduced as a language; each participant brings a unique conceptualisation; the mediator and the participants together take part in a discourse that creates a shared classroom understanding; participants connect their understanding to their own worlds; and conceptual change becomes something that can be seen as it happens.
The session closed with examples of visual work produced by students on Business Ethics, which show how differently the same concept can be understood.
